He Can Put It Back Together Again
Remember the nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty”? To jog your memory, it was a little poem that detailed an unfortunate accident involving an egg that became irreparably cracked after falling off of a wall. While Humpty Dumpty probably seems like a fun little jingle with no real point, I would like to share a little bit about some life lessons I learned from this childhood classic.
Well as the story goes Humpty Dumpty had a great fall and when all the king’s horses and men couldn’t put Humpty back together again, he was left broken. Often life’s events can leave us battered feeling a “cracked.” As a result, we may feel that we are beyond fixing. However, I would like to share with you that while men and women may not have all the answers to help pull your life back together, Jesus is the glue that can fix us.
Often in life we can be like Humpty Dumpty looking to everything and everyone for answers, leaving the King of ALL Kings out of our circumstances when He is the answer to all of our heartbreak and voids in life.
In my life, like Humpty Dumpty, I too have had great falls including in my struggling after the deaths of my dad and boyfriend in high school and not having the support I felt like I needed from my parents as a young lady. While I experienced much heartache and pain in those times of my life, I didn’t always make the best decisions because I lacked the resources needed to make better decisions. It wasn’t till I started being exposed to the word of God that I began to learn that I needed Jesus and a community of others that trusted Him, to help me to make better decisions and hold me accountable to the goals I set and the change I wanted to see in my life. At various crossroads in my life, I can remember feeling like a total failure. I was very lonely at times and I felt that no one cared but the word of God helped me understand that my identity was not to be based around my past and mistakes. In fact, I was loved and covered by God’s grace and He had a wonderful plan for my life. (See Jeremiah 29:11)
God has a plan for us all and His greatest one was to redeem us from our sin with the shedding of Jesus’ blood so that we could be in relationship with Father God. It was only by God’s love and grace that I was forgiven for the bad decisions and actions I have made in my life. I want you to be encouraged that you too can be put back together again by having a right relationship with Jesus and allowing Him into the cracked places in your life. (See Romans 10:9-10)
